Varberg
A few kilometers from Varberg’s city center, on the picturesque peninsula with the sea on one side and the quiet nature on the other, is Getterön’s campsite. Here you can stay in your own caravan or tent on a camping site, with a mobile home on a mobile home site or rent a cabin.
Getteröns Camping is located on Getterön, a peninsula with lovely coves.
The road here winds past the nature reserve, the marina and the airfield and then ends in the small community. With five lovely bays lined along the rocks, even the journey here is beautiful!
Once you arrive, there are activities for the whole family – kids’ club, bouncy castle, dog shower, sauna, game room, boules, football field, mini golf, various events at the Brasserie, and much more! Explore the coves by renting a SUP or enjoy extra relaxation by renting the hot tub.
At the campsite, you can rent an e-bike to explore more of the local area or experience Halland’s nature along the Kattegatt Trail. For those who prefer to explore on foot, we recommend the Hallandsleden or hiking in the Getterön Nature Reserve.
The campsite is located on a peninsula consisting of cliffs, beaches, and meadows, where five different coves offer fantastic swimming from cliffs, a pier, and sandy beaches.
Boat or bicycle to Varberg’s center and other excursions
It is about 4 km to the center of Varberg. From Getterön, you can take the Getterö boats from the harbor into Varberg’s harbor, a trip of about 10 minutes. Otherwise, cycling is fine as there is a cycle path all the way into town. Inside Varberg there are, among other things, close-to-town baths, the ancient fortress, shops and restaurants.
Naturum is located on the edge of Getterön’s nature reserve. Here you can find information about the animals, plants, geology and cultural history that shaped the area around Getterön. Behind the Naturum is the Getterön bird reserve with thousands of different birds. They offer guided tours, lectures, a shop and a cafe with a fantastic view of the area. This is only 2 km from Getteröns Camping.
Another tip when you stay at the campsite is to visit Getterön’s fish & smokehouse. It is both a restaurant and shop located in the middle of the peninsula. Here they smoke their fish themselves and sell them in their shop. They also sell homemade mixes, sauces, seafood and takeaway food. They also have alcohol rights and are a very popular lunch spot for the campsite’s guests.
